Over a decade ago I left university for a career in the trades.  Four long years of on the job training, night school, and many government exams lead to my Red Seal Endorsement as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright.

For ten years I enjoyed the challenges of working as a Millwright.  It gave me an interesting career in which new knowledge was obtained daily.  It provided for my family, which ultimately became a wife and two young children.  It also facilitated my move out west to Calgary, Ab. to begin a new journey.

Recently, I was afforded the opportunity to become an instructor in the Millwright Program at  SAIT Polytechnic.  The choice was made that if I was going to become an instructor, I would consider this my new trade and I would approach this new career with the same thirst for knowledge as I had with past endeavors.

Enrolling in the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program at Vancouver Community College is part of that commitment.  This blog was created as an ongoing part of the PIPD program and I hope to share my journey throughout the program.
